How to Create an Assessment in the Courses Module

Assessments are a key part of measuring learning progress and ensuring learners understand the material covered in your courses. The Training Studio makes it easy to create, customize, and manage assessments with flexible settings, AI-powered question generation, and advanced test delivery options.

This guide will walk you through each step, starting from creating a new assessment to publishing, configuring settings, sending invitations, and managing your assessments efficiently.

Create an Assessment

Step 1: Create a New Assessment

Go to 'Training Studio' → 'Assessments' → 'New Assessment'.

Step 2: Choose the Type of Assessment

Choose the 'Assessment Type' you want to create.  Enter the assessment 'Title' and 'Description'.

Step 3: Modify the Settings

Set your 'Time Limit' (in minutes), 'Passing Score.' Choose the 'Scoring Mode.'

Enable or disable:

  • Randomize Questions
  • Randomize Answers

Finally, click  'Create Assessment.'

Add Questions to Your Assessment

Step 4: Add Questions

You can add questions in two ways: 'Generate with AI' or 'Add Manually.'

Step 5: Generate Questions with AI

Click 'Generate with AI', then enter the 'Topic' for the questions, specify the 'Number of Questions', select the 'Difficulty Level', choose the 'Question Types' using the checkboxes, and finally click 'Generate Questions'.

Step 6: Review and Edit Questions

After questions are generated, click 'Take Assessment' to preview the test. 'Edit'(2) each question if needed. 'Preview'(3) the question and answers. 'Delete'(4) a question if it’s not required.

Step 7: Publish the Assessment

Once everything looks good, click 'Publish'. 

You’ll now see a 'Published' badge next to the assessment title. You can 'Unpublish' it anytime using the same button.

Move, Copy, or Delete Questions

Step 8: Move/Copy the questions

Select the questions using the checkboxes. Choose one of the actions at the top:

  • Move/Copy
  • Delete Selected

Step 9: Select an Assessment

Select 'Move' or 'Copy'. Choose the destination assessment from the dropdown.

Update Assessment Settings

Step 10: Configure Basic Settings

You can edit the settings anytime. Click 'Settings' inside the assessment. Update the 'Title', 'Description', 'Time Limit', 'Passing Score', or 'Scoring Mode' if needed.

Step 11: Configure Test Delivery Settings

Configure how your assessment behaves:

Set the 'Question Pool Size.' Enable/disable 'Randomize Question Order' and 'Randomize Answer Choices'. Turn on 'Even Distribution' by category or difficulty.

Add security measures by enabling 'Anti-Cheating Mode'. Control result visibility by toggling 'Show Results to Candidate', then click 'Save Settings'.

Send Assessment Invitations

Step 12: 

Go to the 'Invitations' tab. Compose your invitation message. Enter the learner’s 'email'. Click '+ Add to Block' to include them. View all previously sent invitations in the 'Sent Invitations' section.

Step 13: Import or Export QTI Files

To upload questions, choose 'Select QTI File' and upload your file. To download, click 'Export QTI'.

Step 14: Manage Your Assessment

Once created, your assessment will appear in the 'Assessments' list.

Step 15: Assessment Actions and Options

Click the 'Options' icon next to it to perform the following actions:

  • Enrollments – Add learners to the assessment

  • Copy ID – Copy the assessment ID

  • Edit Cover – Add or change cover image

  • Reposition – Rearrange assessments

  • Unpublish – Make the assessment inactive

  • Delete – Remove it permanently

You have now successfully created and configured an assessment in the Training Studio. With customizable settings, AI-assisted question creation, security controls, and easy learner management, you can build assessments that match your training goals perfectly.
