How to Create Certificates, Badges, and Manage Gamification

The Engagement module helps organizations recognize and motivate learners through certificates, badges, points, and leaderboards. Administrators can create certificate templates, issue certificates, configure gamification rules, and reward learners for their achievements and learning progress.

This article explains how to manage certificates, badges, point allocation rules, and leaderboards within Learnly.

Step 1: Access the Engagement Module

Navigate to 'People' and click 'Engagement'.

Step 2: Create a Certificate Template

Under 'Certificate Templates', click '+ Create Certificate' and choose a certificate creation method:

Standard: Use a predefined certificate design.

Step 3: Customize a Standard Certificate Template

Select a certificate design and personalize the template based on your requirements. Click 'Save Certificate Template' once completed.

Step 4: Design a Certificate Using Canvas

Click 'Design with Canvas' to create a template manually.

Step 5: Configure Certificate Template Details

Enter the 'Template Name', enable 'Preview Mode' to view changes, add the background image URL, and insert the required variables.

Step 6: Edit and Save the Certificate Design

Add text, add background, use existing templates, delete elements, or even download the certificate as a PDF using the options available. Click 'Reset' to start over or select 'Save & Exit' when finished.

Step 7: Issue Certificates Manually

To manually issue a certificate, click 'Issue Manually'.

Step 8: Assign and Issue a Certificate

Select the course from the dropdown, choose the certificate template, enter the learner’s email address, and click 'Issue Certificate'.

Create and Manage Badges

Badges provide visual recognition when learners achieve specific milestones.

Step 9: Create a New Badge

Under Gamification, click '+ New Badge'.

Step 10: Configure Badge Details

Enter the 'Badge Name', select a 'Badge Icon', choose a 'Badge Background Color', and add a description. Set the required points learners need to earn the badge, then click 'Create Badge'.

Step 11: Edit or Delete Badges

Use the available icons to 'Edit' or 'Delete' existing badges.

Step 12: Configure Point Settings

Enter the number of points learners should receive and enable the setting. Click 'Save Changes' to apply the configuration.

Step 13: View the Leaderboard

The leaderboard displays top-performing learners based on earned points, badges, and achievements.
